AOP Founder to Publish a Book

Wednesday, 24 April 2013 22:01

Great news! Our founder, Jeremy Holm, is getting ready to publish his first full-length book. The piece will be Christian faith-based and we expect it to be on shelves and online for purchase in January of 2014. Congratulations, Jeremy, we are all looking forward to it!

Jeremy is also preparing to release a short e-book titled, "The Champions Way." Drawing from his decade-long career as a bobsled pilot and coach, this book is based on the winning principles Jeremy lectures on. Stay tuned for an announcement on the release!

Athlete Outreach Founder Helps Local College Raise Funds

Outreach Founder Jeremy HolmOutreach Founder Jeremy HolmWhen the Athlete Outreach Project's founder Jeremy Holm attended college at Utah's Salt Lake Community College, he, like almost every other college student in America, struggled to stay ahead of the bills, homework, social life demands and still pilot bobsled down the ice at over 80 MPH.

His is a success story, at least in our eyes. He managed to somehow graduate without any debt (not saying its a bad thing if you do) and still successfully juggle all the other demands on his time, including a full-time job. One semester he even took 18-credit hours and maintained a 3.8+ GPA, a feat that landed him on the college's President's List.

"SLCC (pronounced "slick") was the perfect school for me," said Holm. "It provided a challenging, yet open learning environment. The educators are passionate about their subjects and so are the students...most of them. I really felt that my fellow Bruins were honestly there to learn, to improve their intellect and the skills in their chosen professions. It's always nice when you can surround yourself with people who have the same goals you do."

To help give back to his alma mater, Holm agreed to share his story of life at SLCC and beyond to help the college raise the required $1 million (USD) for the institution's new Center for Media Arts.

"I wanted to give back," Holm said. "SLCC was a good place for me to study and grow. Plus, I value the media arts having studied Print Journalism and Graphic Design. I want to help other students have the same chance to gain an education that I did."

Project Founder Jeremy Holm's TV Interview

Tuesday, 19 July 2011 21:58

Project Founder Jeremy HolmProject Founder Jeremy HolmIf you live in Utah, Idaho or Wyoming be sure to watch our founder Jeremy Holm on "What's Up Utah?", a locally filmed television show that highlights individuals, organizations and activities that make a positive impact in the Intermountain West.

Jeremy was approached by the show's staff due to his relationship with making a difference in the community through athlete service projects, such as The Athlete Outreach Project, as well as his involvement with the Paralympic movement as Head Coach for the United States Adaptive Bobsled Team.

The show is hosted by Pastor Greg Johnson, a local Baptist minister who works to bring organizations, churches and groups together on common ground to use their influence to inspire and assist those around them. In the interview Jeremy talks with Greg about his bobsled background, his own personal battle with depression and anxiety, his Christian mission to Honduras and Belize, his coaching involvement with the U.S. Adaptive Bobsled Team and founding the Athlete Outreach Project.

The show will air Wednesday, July 20th at 9:30pm on Channel 20 and re-run on Friday, July 22nd at 7:40pm. Break out the popcorn and pull up a chair!

Athlete Village Event, June 4

Sunday, 05 June 2011 15:25

Olympic athletes Athlete VillageOlympic athletes Athlete VillageOn Saturday morning (June 4) The Project participated in a charity event for the American Lung Association of Utah. As part of their "Fight for Air" campaign, the ALAU held a half-marathon/5k/fun walk to help raise funds for their lung-health education programs and asthma camp organizations for children living with asthma.

It was a beautiful sunny day (finally a Utah weekend where it didn't rain) and the runners were out in force. About 500 participants ran the event with several hundred spectators and "cheerleaders" lining the course. It was great to see that many people come out to support such a health-oriented cause.

But in our opinion, the best part was waiting in the Finish Area: The Athlete Village.
