Be a Champion for HopeAt the Athlete Outreach Project, we want you to do more than just change your own life; we invite you to change the lives of others. You can become a Champion for Hope, an inspiration for others who might need an extra boost. You don't have to change the world, but to one person you just might be the world.

As the great author Dr. Seuss once said, "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."

Here are some ideas of ways you can become a Champion for Hope:

SPEAK UP:

Lead the WayDid you ever think that you could become a change for good in this world? You can by sharing your voice in your school, around the workplace, in your community, and in countless other ways. Pick a topic, a subject that you feel passionate about and speak up about it. Share your thoughts and ideas about ways to improve your world. As you find your voice, you give others the courage to do so as well. Like a pebble dropped in a pond, your influence will spread and help others find their own voice.

EDUCATE:

EducateEducating yourself on your topic or subject of choice allows you to understand the world around you and help others to do so as well. As you learn more about the facts, statistics, research, treatments, and organizations involved with your chosen topic, you become an expert, one who can educate others and help them learn and grow. Participate in a group discussion, put together a seminar, write a paper or create a website or forum for others who are seeking more information. As you Speak Up and Educate yourself and others, you become a powerful force for good.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

Champions Serve OthersOnce you have a cause and found your voice, go forward with courage to make a difference in the world. Hold a fundraiser for research, speak at a support group, start your own organization, or just volunteer your time with someone in need. A true Champion for Hope looks for ways to help those around him or herself. As you bravely and courageously work to impact the world around you, your light will assist others in finding their own way. Will you be the voice that saves a life? Will you be the one who finds the cure? Will you be the one who starts an organization or writes a book or creates a website that changes the world? Only you can decide that. Just know this: we believe you in. Isn't it time you believed in yourself?
